Also after you have finished the jailbreak if your Cydia is not showing any sources it only needs to be refreshed by adding any source like. cydia.myrepospace.com If you get the white Cydia icon try these steps 1, Turn the device off then back on. 2, Open up Cydia and install then uninstall any package. 3, Re run Redsn0w over the top.
A guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4, 3G, and iPad 1 using redsnow. This does not work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2, but an updated version will be released soon and I will update this guide on my channel when it is, so stay tuned! Notes: -This works on all devices, except iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (guide for those will be up soon, so stay tuned). -This is untethered. This means once you jailbreak, you don’t need a computer to turn your device back on if you turn it off. -Backup to iTunes and Restore/Update to iOS 5.0.1 before attempting this. -If you are jailbroken on a tethered jailbreak, just run this over it to make it untethered. -I am not responsible for any damage you do to your device. pod2g has updated his blog with a video by Chronic Dev Team member, DHowett, running an untethered A5 jailbreak[1] on his iPhone 4S[2] on iOS 5.0.1. The video runs down everything you’d expect from rebooting the device to show an untethered state and launching Cydia and showing that the device ID is indeed an iPhone 4S. Considering the iPhone 4S and iPad 2[3] are both A5 devices, an untethered jailbreak should work for both.
pod2g says this means we should only have a few more to wait now. Not sure if “a few more” implies days, months, light years, or some other measure of time. For now, we’ll just have to sit back and be patient for what should be just a little while longer. Non-A5 iPhone and iPad owners can untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1[4] right now.
